About MicroAdventureMicroAdventure was founded to help in the commercialization of new technologies, leveraging its management’s broad expertise in microfabricated devices and optics, innovation, design, process integration and system development. While this may be the century of the photon, corporate R&D budgets have been reduced and focus has shifted to faster-to-market software and human factors innovation. A great deal of specialized knowledge is being lost in the shift to offshore R&D and manufacturing. MicroAdventure is committed to helping corporations explore and develop new technology that utilizes micro/nanostructures, MEMS, and advanced optical devices in innovative ways.
Marek Kowarz, PhD, President and Founder of MicroAdventure Technologies LLC (MAT), has been involved in R&D and commercialization relating to the design, fabrication, and characterization of optical devices and systems, MEMS, sensors, nanostructures, and related applications for over twenty-five years. He founded MAT in 2011 as an R&D services company that provides technical expertise and engineering to develop innovative systems based on such technologies. He has had an interest in entrepreneurship since early in his career and has been an advisor to Excell Partners, a VC fund that invests in NY high-tech high-growth startups, since 2019.
Prior to MAT, Marek was with the Smart System Technology and Commercialization Center (STC), College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), where he was Principal Scientist and a member of the STC Leadership Team guiding MEMS technology programs from design to customer delivery. From 1995 to 2007, he was at the Research Laboratories of Eastman Kodak Company leading R&D efforts in MEMS, displays, imaging systems and optical data storage and was a Kodak Distinguished Inventor. He received a PhD degree in Optics from The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester and dual undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from the University of Pennsylvania. He has over 75 issued and pending US patents, with many corresponding foreign patents, and is internationally recognized for his work in optical MEMS, laser displays and related systems. |
